Intentionally Designed
Every detail at Schooner Memory Care has been intentionally designed to create a secure, comfortable, and familiar environment that supports residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Our amenities are not simply conveniences — they are tools that promote independence, reduce anxiety, and encourage meaningful engagement throughout the day.
Families often tell us that what stands out most is how the community feels — calm, welcoming, and intentionally designed for those living with memory loss. Our amenities work together to support daily routines, foster independence, and create an environment where residents can live with comfort, dignity, and purpose.

Our Amenities
At Schooner Memory Care, amenities are more than features — they are part of how we create a safe, engaging, and truly supportive place to call home.

Welcoming Common Spaces
Our thoughtfully designed neighborhood offers bright, welcoming common spaces that invite residents to gather, relax, and connect. Comfortable lounges, sitting areas, and activity rooms provide opportunities for socialization while also allowing for quiet moments of rest. These spaces are arranged to feel residential rather than institutional, helping residents feel at home from the moment they arrive.

Private Studio Apartments
Residents enjoy private studio apartments with full bathrooms, offering both comfort and dignity. Each apartment is designed to allow residents to personalize their space with familiar furniture, photos, and cherished belongings — an important element in helping residents feel grounded and secure. Natural light throughout the community supports healthy sleep-wake cycles and enhances overall well-being.

Intuitive Layouts
Safety and freedom of movement go hand in hand at Schooner. Our community features secure, easy-to-navigate layouts that allow residents to move about independently while remaining protected. Clear sightlines, intuitive design, and supportive cues help reduce confusion and promote confidence as residents move throughout the neighborhood.

Secure Outdoor Spaces
We offer secure outdoor spaces that allow residents to enjoy fresh air, seasonal changes, and gentle movement in a safe environment. These outdoor areas provide opportunities for walking, gardening, relaxation, and social connection — all while remaining within the security of the memory care neighborhood.

Neighborhood Kitchens
Dining and kitchen areas are designed to feel warm and familiar. Our neighborhood country kitchens serve as gathering points where residents can enjoy snacks, beverages, and the comforting sensory experience of food preparation. The sights, smells, and sounds of cooking help stimulate appetite, evoke memories, and encourage participation in daily routines.

Digital Connection
Throughout the community, Wi-Fi access supports connection with loved ones through video calls, digital photos, and shared experiences. We also utilize hearing loop systems in common areas to enhance communication and inclusion for residents with hearing challenges, ensuring everyone can participate fully in activities and social interaction.

Additional Amenities
These support both comfort and engagement, including:
- Welcoming activity and enrichment spaces
- Cozy reading and reflection areas
- Laundry services and housekeeping
- Climate-controlled indoor spaces for year-round comfort
- Thoughtfully designed lighting to reduce glare and shadows
Our family couldn’t be more pleased with the care provided to our brother by the team at Schooner Memory Care. The facilities and programs are top notch, but it is the staff that are so special and caring that make living there comfortable and enriching for the residents. Recently, our brother has been hospitalized. But he can’t wait to get back “home” to be with his friends and “new family” at Schooner. Alzheimer’s is a curse, but the extraordinary support of and kindness to residents and their families shown universally by Schooner staff is a blessing that helps ease the challenges of the journey immeasurably. We can’t thank them enough for all they do for us.
– S. Gates, current residents’ sibling
